Of course you wanna know who WE are!!
GABBY DIEKHOFF!!Hey, hi, hello, I’m Gabby or Gab or Gabs or whatever else you feel like calling me. When I was younger, adults would ask me what I wanted to be when I grew up, and I would say, “Kim Gordon.” And now, here I am: I’m 19 years old, I’m not in a cool band and I am not going to CalArts or any place like that. Instead, I’m a sophomore at the University of Wisconsin – Madison, double majoring in Creative Writing and Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies. I spend most of my free time roaming the streets in search of cool dogs that I can pet, typically while listening to Sleater-Kinney or Bratmobile or the Julie Ruin or Sonic Youth through my halfway-broken earphones and casting glares at creepy dudes that keep their eyes on me for a second too long. I also make this zine and tend to prioritize it above my schoolwork.

If you want to win my <3heart<3, feel free to contribute to my balanced diet consisting of soy ice cream sandwiches, Jolly Ranchers, and “shitty” gas station coffee. Seriously, I would take a cup of coffee from Casey’s over a fancy, $5 pour-over any day. I swear a lot, too. It’s not intentional, it just falls out of my mouth. My filter (or lack thereof) is shattered and useless. I’m probably forgetting a lot of really important information about myself. If I didn’t mention my love for dogs, I’m doing so now. Wow. I love dogs. So much. I would talk about my goals in life, but I’m not entirely sure what those entail, exactly. I know I want to help women and girls in any way possible – encourage them, inspire them, ignite their passions or help them to realize their worth and potential – I’m just foggy on how to go about doing that. Hopefully through writing, somehow. Anyway, if you want to contact me (please do, I’d love to talk 2 u)! Email: [email protected] |
ERIN JORDAN!!
Hi everyone! Well, I'm Erin... Right now, I am calling Sacramento, California my home, though I dream every night of living in the lush, foresty mountains in Oregon with my own little goat and bee farm. *sigh* I am studying English and Creative Writing at Sacramento City College (I'm going to a dingy little junior college because I was too busy fucking around in high school to actually take that stuff seriously and apply for good colleges.) When I'm not working on this zine or writing poetry to express my sorrow in mundane things that I am overly-emotional about, I am working at a local craft coffee shop. I talk to people day in and day out and I really do love what I do. It gives me a sense of "Hey, maybe people do wanna talk to me!!" And then, after doing all of those busy things, I am also in a band!!!! (I BET YOU HAD NO IDEA!!!) Yep. We're called Farewell Fox. It is my and my silly and wonderful boyfriend playing the tunes. Kinda shoegaze, kinda surfy, kinda pop/electronic/whatever. Just listen to it if you like music and also like free music because it's free on Bandcamp!!! A little bit more about my personal life and why I am doing this whole zine thing is because I needed an outlet. When Gabby and I crossed paths via social network and she told me about her ambitious and great ideas for a feminist-ruled, angry grrl punk zine, I was like "Um, HELL YAH" but I was also nervous because I had never really shared any of my work on such a wide platform. This zine has really given me a reason to write about experiences that I wouldn't normally share with outsiders, as well as a tissue for me while I am sitting at my desk writing stories about things that make me very emotional and passionate. My biggest inspiration for many poems and prose that I so often write is my loving boyfriend. It's more than an "I'm in love with you and you're in love with me" situation and more of a "I am like, obsessed (but in a very positive way, of course) with you" situation. |
He has helped me through so much and as a huge supporter and part of my life, I find it important to mention him since he will probably come up a lot in the future. Even though I write so many sad things, I am bursting at the seems with happiness because of him. So throughout my journey, I hope I can inspire, shed light on, and offer a sense of hope to those who all too often do not raise their voice but instead shrug and go through the motions, whatever situation they may be in. I am for the girls who want to say no but who are too afraid to even move.

DESIRAE COLE!!
Oh hello, hello to you :) I'm Desi or Des (why is it always so hard to transition from introducing yourself online?) Socal, literally from San Diego to Noho, is home to me (and don't forget about the tumbleweed towns in the middle, they're important!!) I'm a near recent English grad from San Diego State and am studying Education now so I can share my unwanted love for literature with the children everywhere. A very good poet that I knew while in college once told me that she'd know that she was meant to write for the rest of her life if she still had the energy to do so beyond her 25th year. I am now 23 and grateful to find that I can't imagine turning away from it. I CAN imagine writing something useless to the world, but either way, we all need something to pour into. I pour tiny pieces of myself and other people into short stories and poems. I steal bigger pieces of myself from books, films, conversations, other people, images, couch upholstery, and the list is way too long for me to finish saying what.
Find me @disaraycole if you want to talk to me about books, feelings, movies (yes, please talk to me about film), your crush, or whatever honey :)

Madi Young! |
Hey I’m Mad, and I’m a Canadian art student attending the Alberta College of Art and Design! I have a huge passion for all things art, but I specialize in fibre, drawing and photography. I believe in standing up for the rights and freedoms of all people, and tend to have to fight on the internet over this than I would like to (WHY CAN’T PEOPLE BE MORE ACCEPTING OF EACH OTHER???). I also enjoy writing poetry about feelings and experiences in my life. Feel free to contact me at [email protected]! Audrey Hansa! |
I'm currently an art student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I do left cartwheels even though I'm a righty. I'm primarily a painter, but I am currently expanding to other areas, like printmaking, guitar, and writing. Although I suck at cracking eggs, I do make the fluffiest damn scrambled eggs you've ever seen. My birthstone is topaz (the one that looks like pee). I'm from the Chicago suburbs, so I tend to lie to people and say I am from the city of Chicago. I hate the word panties, and I love watching cheesy '70s shows. Oh, and I'm also the princess of Genovia.
